In slavery times when the American colonist came to west Africa, split in groups. the met local villagers and got ingredients from different places. fufu(dough) came from Ghana, palm oil from Liberia, and taro from sierra lone. The colonist met and shared the ingredients to form one dish.

Liberian doughnuts are a cake like substance baked with yeast, milk, sugar, salt, water, and eggs. after baked, they are twisted and sprinkled with sugar. These taste very good and very popular. they are sold almost everywhere in Liberia.
Jollof rice is one of the most popular foods in the world. you can put anything in it but its main ingredients are mixed vegetables, tomato paste and chili peppers. its much like jambalaya, a Louisiana dish. Liberian ingredients also have plantains and spinach.
spinach and rice are eaten everywhere in west Africa but are commonly eaten in Liberia. the recipe is chicken seasoning, peppers, spinach, meat or chicken, and rice.
cassava cake is sweet as Liberian doughnuts, baked with condensed milk, peeled yucca, evaporated milk, and coconut milk. cassava has several different uses such as cassava and rice, dumplings, and soup.

Anansi the Trickster is a west African god. he is known to take the shape of a spider and is in hundreds of stories. Anansi is known world wide in the book ''Anansi and the Spider". In the video, Anansi challenges the sky god(known to be his father) to have his golden box of stories. in the united states he is known as aunt Nancy. Anansi originated of the people of Ghana, but in Ghana's good friend Liberia, Anansi became a well know folk tale. Anansi share similarities with the American folklore "Br'er rabbit".
fast and prayer is a holiday in Liberia occurring on the second Friday of April. it is a day of peace and self-discipline. this day is more observed by Christians, but Liberian Muslims celebrate the day of Ramadan. in February 1966, under directions of president Tubman, he ordered that the country would pray in accordance of the dying wish of reverend J.D.K baker of the protestant epicostal church. His hope, according to Tubman, was to pray for peace, security, and safety of the Liberian state and for the peace and brotherhood of mankind throughout the world.
